[saveAsExternalData](saveAsExternalData.md) null means automatic (a `<stem>_data` sidecar once the payloads exceed the 2 GiB protobuf ceiling), true always a sidecar, false never; [irVersion](irVersion.md) 0 keeps an opened file's own IR version.
